Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis, an actor and musician, is known for his sharp-edged character or smart characters in action movies. He has been in over $2.5 billion in films. Walter Bruce Willis was born on March 19, 1955 in the city of Idar-Oberstein (West Germany) to Marlene Kassel and David Andrew Willis (from Carneys Point New Jersey), both of whom lived at an United States military base. His family moved to the U.S. shortly after he was born. He was raised in Penns Grove, New Jersey where his mother was employed at a bank and his father was a welder and factory worker. Willis developed an interest in the drama arts during high school and was "discovered" whilst working in the cafe in New York City and then performed in a few off-Broadway productions. He was working as a bartender one night when a casting director noticed his charm and approached to cast him as bartender in a tiny movie. After numerous auditions, Willis contributed minor film appearances that were often uncredited, prior to getting the role of private investigator "David Addison" along with sultry Cybill Shepherd in the hit romantic comedy TV series Moonlighting (1985). His humorous and wisecracking P.I. is seen by some as an attempt to play the part of the hard-boiled NYC detective "John McClane" in the monster-movie Die Hard (1988), in which Willis the character alone fought an uncompromising gang of international thieves inside a Los Angeles skyscraper. In the sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990) Willis reprised his role in the role of McClane. The story was set in Washington's Dulles International Airport where a group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers are trying to reclaim the corrupt South American general. The film's excellent performance at the box office prompted an sequel to Die Hard with bloodshed (1995). This time Samuel L. Jackson starred as a cynical Harlem shop owner, who was unaware of his role and was forced to help McClane in the aftermath of a terrorist attack on a scorching New York City day.
